Meet your Bristol Hosts

Ann is 30 this year and has lived in Bristol for nearly 12 years! Ann’s Mum Margaret passed when she was 52 and Ann was 14. Back then there was very little in terms of support so she navigated grief as best she could. Fast forward 10 years and Ann’s Brother Liam passed from bowel cancer. Grieving two of the closest people to her has changed her life but finding Let’s Talk About Loss brings comfort through the isolation. Ann has been attending in person and online meet ups for the last couple of years and is thrilled to join the amazing host team and help support the Bristol group continue providing a space to feel less alone in grief. She is looking forward to meeting you soon and finding out about your loved ones too! Ann also loves football, dance and being creative.

Kieran is 25 this year and has lived in Bristol for nearly 3 years. He lost his Mum when he was 19 to a rare and degenerative condition called Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA). He was a young carer for much of his teens and really connects with those that experienced something similar. He has found let’s talk about loss a wonderful community of support, advice, tears and laughter and felt right at home from the first meetup – remembering buried memories and finding new perspectives with each one. Kieran also loves running, cycling, theater and traveling.

Georgia is from Bristol and turns 32 this year. Over the course of her life, her family has suffered several losses, including her Grandmother when she was 16, her Aunt when she was 26 and her Grandfather during the COVID outbreak in 2020. Perhaps the most significant of these losses was her Mum, Jacqui, who died of Melanoma aged just 51, when Georgia was 29 years old. She often speaks of the ways in which her life changed when her Mum became terminally ill, turning to books as a means of processing the inevitable. After her Mum died, Georgia came along to the Bristol meet-up group and helped set up the Bereavement Book Club as part of Let’s Talk About Loss. Georgia is a firm believer in breaking the taboo around the subject of grief, and loves meeting other people who just ‘get it’! She looks forward to sharing stories of the people we have lost and finding reasons to smile and remember them. Georgia also loves reading, fundraising and running.

Ruby is 29 and born and bred in Bristol. She’s a wedding photographer by trade but comes from a family of social workers, so naturally Ruby is passionate about supporting others and guiding them through tough stages in their lives. Ruby lost her Mum & boyfriend in 2017 in two very different ways. She found Let’s Talk about Loss in February 2018, and soon became a host. She is passionate about encouraging others to talk through their grief. She fully believes a problem shared is a problem halved. Ruby loves hosting outdoor & creative meetups and anything to do with brunch foods.

MEET UP FAQs

How will I know where you are?

Our meet up Hosts will be wearing white t-shirts with Let’s Talk About Loss written on them, so you can spot us in a crowd!

Will everyone be sad?

Definitely not. Although we’ve all been bereaved, we aim to have lots of fun at meet ups and chat about lots of things, not just grief. You won’t be asked or expected to share your grief story unless you want to.

What will we do?

Most of our meet ups are activity based, so we are doing something and not just sitting around chatting. We hope you’ll have lots of fun!

How do I sign up?

You don’t need to tell us you’re coming along – feel free to just turn up! If you want to chat to someone before coming along, email us using the form on this page, and we can always meet you beforehand.
