Meet your Cambridge Hosts

A photo of Louisa, smiling at the camera while sat on a punting boat on the river.
Louisa is a wildlife conservation professional with a background in anthropology and primate conservation who specialises in ensuring that the trade in wild plants and animals is sustainable. She is an avid traveller, yogi, loves the outdoors, butterflies, reading, and connecting with others. Louisa lost her mum in 2017 and her grandparents in the years that followed. She found LTAL in 2021 and felt a great sense of comfort connecting with those who understood her grief. A year later, she became a host for the Cambridge group to help others navigate their grief in losing someone.
A photo of Maddie, a white woman, bent down next to her dog, a husky.

With a background in studying psychology and counselling, she understands just how important it is for people to have a safe space where they can share their grief journey with others who can empathise with just how complex and varied grief can be.

She has dedicated her career into supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Behavioural difficulties alongside also currently studying to gain her undergraduate in Inclusion and SEN. She has a love for nature, travelling and the outdoors but most of all enjoys being creative. After losing her Mum suddenly when she was a child, she struggled to open up about her grief growing up but got involved with Let’s Talk About Loss in 2018 through the art exhibition “When Words Hurt” and from then became a host to support and connect with other bereaved young people just like herself.

MEET UP FAQs

How will I know where you are?

Our meet up Hosts will be wearing white t-shirts with Let’s Talk About Loss written on them, so you can spot us in a crowd!

Will everyone be sad?

Definitely not. Although we’ve all been bereaved, we aim to have lots of fun at meet ups and chat about lots of things, not just grief. You won’t be asked or expected to share your grief story unless you want to.

What will we do?

Most of our meet ups are activity based, so we are doing something and not just sitting around chatting. We hope you’ll have lots of fun!

How do I sign up?

You don’t need to tell us you’re coming along – feel free to just turn up! If you want to chat to someone before coming along, email us using the form on this page, and we can always meet you beforehand.
