She moved up to Newcastle for university in 2010 and has been here ever since. Her mum had a kidney transplant in 1995 but passed away unexpectedly in Dec 2018 after being rushed to hospital with a perforated bowel. She found Let’s Talk About Loss after struggling to find a safe space to talk about her thoughts and feelings and joined the first group meet up in Jan 2020 just before lockdown. She was quite nervous at first and walked past the venue quite a few times, but is so glad she went in that day. Since joining the group she has made some friends for life and most importantly realised that whilst everyone has their own story, we are never alone in our grief. The safe space this group provides is really something special and Sara is really grateful to be part of it. When not trying to normalise conversations about grief and mental health, Sara loves travelling, the outdoors and curling up with a good book.
