Meet your Sheffield Hosts

A photo of Phoebe, standing next to a statue of a lion, smiling at the camera

She is a 23 year old Data Analytics Consultant based in Sheffield who has volunteered in the field of mental health for over 5 years. After losing her mum to suicide, she feels passionate about giving people the space to talk about loss without the stigma. Phoebe can be found at the local climbing gym, in the Peak District or the local coffee shop with a good book.

A photo of Fiona, sat in a cafe with a drink in front of her, smiling at the camera
Originally from Newcastle, Fiona studies speech and language therapy at the University of Sheffield. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, baking, and going out for coffee! After losing her mum to Motor Neurone Disease in 2022, Fiona wants to help other young people who have experienced loss to know they are not alone. Although everybody will have their own grief journey, being able to share emotions and experiences with others is important and can help make sense of it all.
A photo of Emma, a white woman with long brown hair, posing for a selfie
Emma has lived in Sheffield for the past 4 years and loves it! She loves everything outdoors, the colder and wetter the better! If she’s not outside, you’ll tend to find her enjoying good food, good music and good pubs. She lost her dad pretty suddenly a year ago, and found that what helped her most was speaking to others who had been through the same thing. Particularly discussing the emotional upheaval, the challenges, and the funny bits of dealing with this huge thing that we all go through at one point or another. Emma firmly believes that a good support network is crucial in navigating the hardest points in life and is looking forward to helping others who feel they’re needing a bit of support.

MEET UP FAQs

How will I know where you are?

Our meet up Hosts will be wearing white t-shirts with Let’s Talk About Loss written on them, so you can spot us in a crowd!

Will everyone be sad?

Definitely not. Although we’ve all been bereaved, we aim to have lots of fun at meet ups and chat about lots of things, not just grief. You won’t be asked or expected to share your grief story unless you want to.

What will we do?

Most of our meet ups are activity based, so we are doing something and not just sitting around chatting. We hope you’ll have lots of fun!

How do I sign up?

You don’t need to tell us you’re coming along – feel free to just turn up! If you want to chat to someone before coming along, email us using the form on this page, and we can always meet you beforehand.
